Most of this has been said but:
* We're using reusable shopping bags more often (it helps that they live in my car).
* We recycle (though we have done that for years).
* We're switching to "green" cleaning products (or even making our own) as we run out of the conventional ones.

I use vinagar and newspaper to wash glass with - its the best cleaner and its earth friendly!!

Fans in room. Keep filters clean for the A/C. Cover windows with tint. Plant plants that provide shade. Compost veggie left overs. Take items that the county does not take to corporations that do...ex:Whole Foods will take #5.

Although I own a car I choose to ride my bike to/from work because that means I don't pollute our air with emissions from my vehicle. When I shop for groceries I take my reusable bags along and bike to the neighborhood grocery. Thank you for the contest.

I am trying to use homemade, more natural (non-toxic) cleaners made with ingrediants such as baking soda, vinegar, hot water, etc.

Some things we do are watch our water use, wash in cold water, use a low flow shower head and use CFLs

We save any piece of paper that comes home from school and use the blank side for coloring, shopping lists, or notes.

We rarely ever use paper plates or napkins when eating at home. We replaced all our lightbulbs to more energy efficient ones. We try to rewear clothes that aren't dirty or smelly, so clothes get washed less often. We make sure the dishwasher is completely full before running.

My family and I live green by using compact florescent energy saving light-bulbs, recycle our glass and newspapers, shut off lights when not in room, use power strips, and use re-usable shopping bags.

We have been recycling both paper and plastic.

We've been buying organic for years, but now we're taking it one step further by trying to buy local as well. We have lots of farmers markets around here, which makes it easy!

We are now recycling most everything we can-we also switched out our lightbulbs to the curlicue kind-we haven't had to change a single lightbulb in almost 2 and a half years! Thanks!

I fill up my big recycle bin every week. Although I am home during the day (lost my job!) I don't turn up the heat at all. I always turn lights off when not in use, and TV, etc. when I leave the room.

I try to do my part. Living in a tropical island gives me the advantage of utilizing the power and energy of the sun by hanging my clothes to dry. I try to minimize my water use by only watering plants late in the afternoon and only watering every 3 days. I also use baking soda and vinegar to clean my house and has been a very important and very affordable means for my family.

I have decided to air dry all of my clothes, rather than use a dryer. I take the train everywhere I go, or I ride my bike or walk if it is close enough. I sort my trash and recycle everything I can.

My goal for 2009 is to stop bringing plastic bags home. We had a collection of assorted cloth bags, but the cashiers would always give me a hard time so I went out and bought 8 identical cloth bags with nice flat bottoms on them. Now every time I use them (at the grocery store, library, etc...) people always ask me where I got them.

I've been using a refillable water bottle and replacing all the light bulbs with the "green light bulbs".

I grew up in the 50's and we practiced being green back then and I still shut off lights during the day and use natural sunlight...hang clothes on line...recycle plastic, glass, tin, and paper..try not to buy anything in a package that needs to be thrown away...use the washing machine in the evening when electrical usage is down and try not to use the air conditioner..ceiling fans are better...just doing one little thing different everyday can make a big change in your carbon foot print that you leave behind..

Each member of the family has his or her own reusable water bottle and we take them everywhere! This really cuts down on the use of bottled water or having to buy drinks in disposable cups. Plus we all drink a lot more water so we are hydrated and healthy!

In my house everything is kept unplugged until we need it.

We installed low-flow showerheads and re-caulked all our windows.

We are doing as much as possible to go green in our home.
We recycle,collect rain water to water plants and wash our vehicles,carry cloth grocery bags and cloth lunch bags and use products that are more environmentally friendly.

We recycle and also we are growing a small vegetable garden. We also shut off lights when not needed.

We are new to the whole "green" lifestyle and our biggest task to start was to declutter our home. I know that doesn't sound very earth friendly, however I am a pack rat that keeps everything and as always bringing in items from yard sales and auctions. The house began to be over run with clutter. In the clutter, I could not things, so would often just purchase another...only to find the item later. In our first step of decluttering, we are going to get rid of needless junk and replace these items with only the essentials. Then we will focus on the process of becoming "green". It isn't always something that can be done all at once, but with determination, it can be done!!

YUP! I was drinking 2L of bottled water a day.. When I stopped and thought about all the plastic *I* was contributing to the landfills single handedly I was ashamed of myself. I got a PUR water pitcher and water bottle and started to use that and now do NOT buy Bottled water any more! YAY for me. I also recycle like a BANSHEE!

We recycle, use reusable totes for shopping, time our showers, have switched our lights to CFLs and are starting to garden.

I use fabric shopping bags, use handtowels instead of lots of papertowels and composte food scraps. A good feeling to help the enviroment on a daily basis.

I use lunch size paper bags to hold veggies that I keep refridgerated. they "breathe" and allow the veggies to stay fresh. they are recyclable and inexpensive.

We pay our bills electronically, so we don't have to send paper through the mail -- saves energy and a stamp, too!

We are growing some of our veggies this year, using only organic methods.

We recycle every thing we can, and compost every thing we can, got rid of bulbs, went to CFL's. We hang ALL of our laundry out on the line. Low flow every thing, and switch off the shower when sudsing. Grow as much of our own food as we can. Try not to use plastic, and we are putting in low-E windows, and bike to work when I can. I teach my kids how to recycle everything, from paper and plastic to batteries and bulbs. We do not use paper plates and plasticware at home and we use environmentaly friendly soaps and detergents.

We are recycling more and using more CFL bulbs. We have always been very careful about turning off lights when we're not using them. It saves money as well as being green!

I do several things and am trying to get even better at it. I recycle everything I can, I'm starting to use the new kind of light bulbs, I open the windows and keep off the air conditioner, and I use cloth rags, nothing paper.

I started walking around town instead of driving. For errands like going to the Post Office or Library or small shopping trips with my reusable shopping totes. I put my baby in the backpack carrier and we go.

We use reuseable bags for all of our shopping, not just groceries.

We recycle everything we can and the City picks it up. Soda cans we take them to the recyle company and get paid a little bit for them, the money we get we donate to our local Community Center. We are replacing our light bulbs with the green ones. I am planning on composting and using the fertile compost to plan some vegetables.
