It’s that time of year again! The first day of school has already come to families in the Midwest and soon it will hit the East Coast too. And with it comes back to school shopping and saving. Are you ready?

Compare Flyers

Don’t go out shopping without preparing first. Knowing which stores have the best deals is key to making sure you don’t overpay. Bring the flyers with you when you go so that you have something to show the cashiers if a price rings up incorrectly. Plus, some stores will match prices and you’ll need proof of a better deal somewhere else.

Check Online

Always check for online deals as well. You may be able to get a lot of goods without even leaving your house, and with free shipping. Plus, there may be flyers on there that you didn’t receive in the mail.

Look for Coupons

Websites like Krazy Coupon Lady are going to be on top of the latest updates on sales and coupons. Before you head out, print online coupons and be the first to get the newest advertised deals.

Visit Used Bookstores

If you need to buy books, like many homeschoolers do, visit used bookstores before ordering. You can find significantly reduced prices on books that are in good or even excellent condition, which will save you plenty of cash.

Clearance Rack Clothing

Don’t overdo it on fall and winter clothing just yet. All of those items are still at full price and your children won’t even be wearing them for another couple of months. Go with the clearance rack where you’ll find short-sleeved shirts, shirts, and skirts (and perhaps the occasional fall item). Once the sales start on the winter clothes, you can get some good deals on those too.

Back to school shopping doesn’t have to break the bank. You just have to prepare yourself and step up to the challenge.
