May is a busy month for most of us. Mother’s Day, Memorial Day, and prom make the month fly by. Plus, we’re planning for the end of the school year and summer vacation, so we have a lot on our minds. But don’t let that mean you aren’t still focused on your budget! Here’s what to buy and how to get great deals in May.
1. Spring Clothing
Memorial Day sales will be in full swing at the end of the month, with great deals on spring clothing. The best thing about spring clothing is that it can work in any season. Shop for now, and shop for the fall.
If you’re in need of a good night’s sleep, May is a great time to finally buy that new mattress you’ve been wanting. In the past, mattresses have been discounted by more than 50% during May.
3. Outdoor Gear
If you’re planning on a fun spring and summer of outdoor activities, this is your chance to shop for your must-have items at discounted prices. Check out your local sports store for great deals.
4. Gym Memberships
Because the weather is warming up and many people will be focused on outdoor activities, gyms will likely be running membership specials. If you’ve been waiting to join a gym because of your budget, now is your chance to get in at a good price.
Spring clean a little bit deeper this year with a new vacuum. The newer models come out in June, so stores are making room for those by discounting the current and older models.
6. Anything at a Yard Sale
Spring is yard sale season — or tag sale, or garage sale, or whatever you call it in your neck of the woods. Get out there early on a Saturday and shop for what you need, but can’t really afford for an amazing bargain. Some people will be selling gently used or even brand new items at super cheap prices.
