Amy--you should read my other article, "I Breast-Fed My Four-Year-Old and it Was Okay." I am insanely pro-breastfeeding, and absolutely did not intend to imply that formula is superior to breastmilk. My intent here is not to promote dairy products, but to look at the economics of good nutrition. There's good reason to believe that at least for some people it's not a good idea to eat dairy foods. But if that's the case, you'll probably spend more money replacing those nutrients, particularly for growing children who need building blocks for their bodies.
Sunniemom--that price for fresh dairy milk is amazing. I am very jealous!
