Linsey, You make a key point-kids have so many hang-ups and one of them is the issue of "ruining" a friendship if they take it to the next stage, when in fact, as you mentioned, being friends is the best way to solidify a relationship. Just from my own perspective, not that I'm well versed in the ways of love, but I've found deeper relationships are ones that I want to maintain, while ones based mainly on issues of attraction are the ones that old, fast.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, it's an important issue that most parents seem to dance around.
