Acceptance
Submitted by Fred Marmorstein on May 1, 2008 - 14:44.
Men and women have struggled with depression; thankfully, it is seen and diagnosed as simply a part of our human nature, not a "disease" that merely prompts one to be locked away or drugged until incoherent.
Accepting depression, as you did, is a necessary venture that moves the process, acknowledging both the strength and frailty we possess. As one of the keys to managing depression, acceptance plays a vital role in creating a healthy path.
Many people ask the question: How do I accept this? The answer can be found in forgiveness. No matter what the tragedy or heartbreak or conflict, at some point individuals need to accept what has happened in order to continue (or start) healing.
Only by forgiving ourselves can this process of acceptance begin.
What can there be to forgive? That answer belongs in the heart.
