Thanks for understanding my concerns about cultural bias. I know some SAHDs who take care of the homefront (inside and out) while their wives work extended hours (if necessary -- the hospital is the largest employer in my town); some who work part-time while the kids are in school. I also know a family who has had both working, the wife only working, and now the husband working. I live in a fairly traditional area so if SAHD is not unusual here then I (rightly or wrongly) would consider it mainstream. There are so many combos and choices, which can benefit families.
