A few more suggestions
Submitted by Janice on April 21, 2008 - 18:57.
I was nauseous from about 6 weeks until, well, after my c-section when I was pregnant. I ended up taking medicine from 14 weeks on, but I still fought the nausea a lot. I went through a bunch of things that helped for a while here and there. I would adjust to a "cure" and find that it didn't help after a while, so I had to keep experimenting.
1) If mint tea is working for you, consider mint gum, life savers or those gummi spearmint leaves for when mint tea is impractical, or you just don't feel like it. I kept these in my purse for when I was on the go.
2) Lemonade was really great for a while. It doesn't make sense, because you'd think acidic juice would make the nausea worse, but I tried it after reading it as a suggestion somewhere and it really did help.
3) Milkshakes! If you're having trouble getting calories, or, ahem, keeping them, a nice cold milkshake is a good way to get them in. Fast food milkshakes have an astounding amount of calories. I swear this is why I never actually lost weight or was categorized as having hyperemesis gravidarum. I had milkshakes almost daily for my first trimester.
4) Cheese toast. I think the combo of a little protein and fat with lightly toasted white bread is just a miracle food. Even if I swore that I couldn't possibly eat anything, I could usually eat this. Stick to mild cheeses. My favorite was meunster.
Feel better!
