I've been thinking about the entitlement issue as well. Lately, my kids have surprised me with the dialogue of "You gave me a __. Why?" or "You failed me, Mr. Vilson." Correction: You failed. If a teacher does everything in his or her power to ensure that the child passes, but the child does not meet the teacher 1/2 way, then that's incumbent on the child and the parent to alter said behavior. I think the Tempered Radical said it best when he said, "Usually, it's the child's work behaviors and not necessarily his / her behavior that ultimately determines the child's success." (or something like that).
Thanks for this post.
