Not surprised at all...
Submitted by Linsey Knerl on March 25, 2008 - 12:21.
Parenting has been the most fulfilling thing I have ever done. That being said, I felt my brain begin to rot almost immediately after I gave up outside work to stay at home and educate my children. While I can't explain the passion that I feel for writing and networking with other professionals, I believe that each mom has something inside of them that drives them to explore the world outside of diapers and lesson plans.
How you choose to nurture that passion is entirely up to each mom. I can understand both sides of the issue, as it plainly isn't anything other than an individual response to a common, natural predicament.
I only wish that every mom had an outlet for individuality, self-expression, and the passion to achieve! Maybe if we did (regardless of whether it was outside the home or paid), there wouldn't be the insecurity on both sides that comes out in such an ugly way.
Thanks for the article! I sincerely hope that moms can be more mature about their reactions and refrain for the ugly and open attacks that has become so acceptable in our culture.
