You said "when I read the book, I see "routine" not schedule, and I definitely listened to my babies. I ALWAYS fed them (as the book says to) if they were hungry even if it wasn't "time". It worked well for us. And I definitely snuggled with them a lot - especially my first. I was so excited to have a baby!"
And again, for fear of making the article a book, I probably didn't make this clear, but I would describe my situation exactly the same as yours. I was determined to enjoy my baby and not let the "schedule" rule me. Still, I found it stressful.
For us, my issue with the program lies with the "cry it out" part. It just didn't work for us the way he promised it would, and listening to my child cry for 20-30 minutes every time I put him down for a nap or bedtime was the final straw.
