Do you have a favorite holiday? Of course you do. We all have that one special day that we can’t wait to celebrate. Which holiday is it? Christmas? Labor Day?

I bet your favorite holiday isn’t Donald Duck Day. But that’s probably because you’ve never heard of it before. Actually, I bet there are a bunch of really stupendous holidays that you didn’t even know existed. Fortunately for you, June has a bunch — 30, to be exact — of reasons to celebrate.

A Really Fantastic Discovery

I happened upon this website the other day: Holiday Insights. Did you know there are actual, documented reasons to celebrate on each day in the month of June?! More importantly, there are holidays and special days for every day of the year!

A Very Special Month

First of all, the entire month of June is devoted to several important causes.

Ironically, June is both Candy Month and National Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Month. Food lovers can keep celebrating with Dairy Month and Turkey Lovers Month (although, I’m not entirely sure if that means you are supposed to hug a turkey or eat one).

Pet lovers will associate June with Aquarium Month and National Adopt a Cat Month.

Most importantly, June is Fight the Filthy Fly Month and National Accordion Awareness Month.

Taking it Day by Day

Now, what you’ve been waiting for. Check out this list of awesomely random holidays in June. How will you and your family celebrate these special days?

Isn’t it a wonder you’ve managed to go your entire life without knowing about these celebrations? I don’t know about you, but I fully intend to embrace the bizarre this month (especially the bizarre covered in chocolate).

June 1

Dare Day

The first day of June is a call to action! Dare someone else, or more importantly, dare yourself!

June 2

Flip a Coin Day

Make all your decisions with a flip of the coin. By the way, did you know the tradition of flipping a coin dates back to Julius Caesar? Naturally, he always called "heads" since it was his head on the coin!

June 3

Repeat Day

Ooooh, the preschoolers are going to love this one! Spend the entire day repeating all your favorite things. Spend the entire day repeating all your favorite things (see what we did there?).

June 4

Hug Your Cat Day

Sadly, most cats are not very huggable. This could actually be a very painful celebration. Don't have a cat? No worries. June is Adopt a Cat Month.

June 5

National Doughnut Day

During WWI, Salvation Army "lassies" went to the front lines and made home cooked meals for the troops – including doughnuts cooked inside an American soldier's metal helmet.

June 6

National Yo-Yo Day

If you've been looking for an excuse to show off your mad yo-yo skills, here's your chance. If you can't successfully "walk the dog," consider a trip to see the world's largest yo-yo at the National Yo-Yo Museum.

June 7

National Chocolate Ice Cream Day

It's sad that you need an excuse to eat chocolate ice cream.

June 8

Best Friend Day

Use this day to bond with your current best friend, reconnect with your abandoned best friend, or heck, go find a best friend.

June 9

Donald Duck Day

Celebrate Donald Fauntleroy Duck's cartoon debut: June 9, 1934. Yeah, that's right. Donald has a middle name – and it's amazing.

June 10

Iced Tea Day

In 1904, a tea plantation owner was trying to sell his hot tea at the St. Louis World Fair. Obviously, no one wanted his hot beverage. So, he dumped it over ice and served it cold. Now, you have a day to celebrate this cool treat.

June 11

National Corn on the Cob Day

Did you know sweet corn originated in Mexico? Fortunately, the juicy summer favorite came north and now we have a reason to eat as much as we possibly can.

June 12

Red Rose Day

Take time to smell the roses.

June 13

Sewing Machine Day

Sewing is a dying art form. If your kids don't know the joy of pressing the foot pedal and whizzing the needle through a piece of fabric, this is sew the perfect day to give it a try!

June 14

Flag Day

Take some time to learn basic flag etiquette. Then, gather your family members to practice.

June 15

Smile Power Day

Did you know it's easier to smile than frown? A smile uses fewer muscles. That means, happy people don't exercise their face nearly as much as angry people. You'd better spend the day dishing out extra grins.

June 16

Fresh Veggies Day

Not canned. Not frozen. Fresh veggies. Grab some veggies and get to work. The more exotic, the better.

June 17

Eat Your Vegetables Day

Can you go the entire day eating nothing but vegetables?

June 18

Go Fishing Day (also International Picnic Day)

What a perfect combination of celebrations. Go fishing and then serve what you catch at a delightful picnic.

June 19

World Sauntering Day

The dictionary definition of saunter is "to walk in a slow, relaxed manner, without hurry or effort." Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could always saunter through life?

June 20

National Hollerin' Contest Day (also World Juggler's Day)

A small North Carolina town is only home to about 50 people, but on National Hollerin' Contest Day, thousands of people come to shout about their abilities. Again, another perfect celebration combination brings hollerin' and jugglin' together.

June 21

Father's Day (also Go Skate Day)

The International Association of Skateboard Companies created this holiday to promote skateboarding. Can you think of a more appropriate way for your father to spend his day of celebration?

June 22

National Chocolate Eclair Day

This celebration sounds absolutely delicious!

June 23

National Pink Day

You wouldn't happen to know any preschoolers who would consider it pure joy to embrace the pink, do you?

June 24

Swim a Lap Day

This is the perfect reminder that swimming pools can be used for energetic endeavors, not just suntans, lounge chairs, and relaxation.

June 25

National Catfish Day

In 1987, Ronald Reagan made June 25 a national holiday to recognize this "uniquely American food delicacy."

June 26

Forgiveness Day

Who will you forgive today?

June 27

Sun Glasses Day

As the month is winding down, you have every right to be a little shady.

June 28

Paul Bunyan Day

This day deserves a gigantic celebration. Bring out your ax and chop some wood.

June 29

Hug Holiday (also Waffle Iron Day)

Two fantastic holidays rolled into one. While it isn’t wise to hug a waffle iron, I do suggest you hug the person operating it. Waffles are yummy.

June 30

Meteor Day

Is there a better way to end the month than staring towards the heavens? No. With all these amazing celebrations, June has been out of this world.
